To understand the importance of domain and the URL in SEO, I would like to tell you What is Domain name and what are the URLs? Domain Names: A domain name is an identification string that defines the territory of administrative autonomy authority or control within the Internet. In simple language, it is a human-readable Internet addresses of websites. Domain name includes two parts: 1. Domain Name (Unique Name) 2. Top Level Domain (.com, .net, .org, .edu etc..) Subdomain is a part of the main domain, it is used to organize the various functions of the website. For eg; www.google.com is a main domain and in www.news.google.com, news is a subdomain of the google.com. Combo of the DN (domain name) and the TLD (top level domain) is called root domain. The URL includes HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) or HTTPs (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) but, it is not a domain name it's a protocol.
